Five Years Later…

A player using the pen emote in Final Fantasy 14.

I haven’t used this site in over five years.

It’s strange to think how much has changed in that time, how my career has evolved, and how my writing aims have changed from chasing dreams of publishing fiction work to instead sliding back into the video game industry.

I think it’s all too easy to lose the joy that you get from writing when you write for a living. When you spend all day typing away at your computer, the last thing you want to do is then spend even more time doing the very same thing all evening as well. I also think the same can happen with gaming. Or even if you try to enjoy a game for your own personal enjoyment, you eventually end up thinking of ideas of how you could write about that game for work. It’s a slippery slope.

And that’s why I want to try to reclaim writing and gaming for myself, at least to some degree. It’s time to revive this blog! (And I’m even trying to shake out of my old lady-ness and use the block editor instead of the classic editor now.)

Final Fantasy XIV

I’d really dipped out of FFXIV this past year or so. Though I’d check back in for seasonal events and new patch drops, I found myself bouncing off again once I’d completed whatever had tempted me to log back in.

This past weekend, I finally felt the urge to play properly again, and so the first thing I did was update my Miner with the best up-to-date gear. If I’m going to start doing things in Eorzea again, I’m gonna need some money to bankroll my adventures, and lots of it.

I have grand plans of finally mopping up some of my missing minions, getting the Triple Triad mount I’ve wanted for so long, or some other long-forgotten aim that I wanted to do ages ago. Realistically, I’ll just be glad to keep playing and enjoying myself even if I’m not checking anything off my Warrior of Light’s bucket list.

Journo News

I’ve got something exciting underway that I’m super stoked about, but I can’t reveal anything about it just yet, so I’ll have to just tease it, haha!
